RESTAURANT DESCRIPTION

Tokyo Star Café ... an Asian Contemporary concept Tokyo Star was born in March 2000. Tokyo's first home was a booth like corridor in Melville, sporting clean fun 'kitchen coolness'. From it's inception, the element of craziness, the idea of being out of the box' was and is the life and soul resounding from the pounding heart beat of the STAR. We moved to Greenside after our neighborhood in Melville became 'throttling'. Here we have expanded our profile and provided a more sophisticated platform as a destination venue including a 'proper' restaurant facility.

The whole idea of the Asian element was not necessarily the authenticity of Tokyo as in Japan, but rather the spirit of creativity, myths, matters of the heart, escapes, disciplines, passions, legends... the extent of mystical relevance present in Asian cultures captured our hearts. We, Tokyo Star, are entertainers with a passionate edge in the creative arts. It is here that our interest in a foreign culture gave rise to the angle of entertainment we offer ? TOKYO STAR! In accepting that we are not Asian, but have 'lent' from a fascinating culture in defining our profile as a Café & Bar. We have come full circle in definition for ourselves. i.e. Our starting point and defining influences are Asian (Tokyo), we cannot be held by restrictive authenticity. Asian contemporary was always our agenda. In saying this we trust you understand the changes in our venue as being a way of providing a more accessible form of entertainment to a cosmopolitan audience.

The great minds over the centuries keep reminding us that to be truly influenced is to understand, respect, take and leave aspects of ones influence according to an outside agenda. It is with the deepest respect, that we, at Tokyo Star, thank our Asian brothers for the fascinating culture they have shared with us over the years. May we continue to become more comfortable in our understanding of a deeply mystical and magnificent presence.

The most important mission statement we wish to share with you is that our overall objective is to provide a sophisticated, left of centre space for like minded people to meet, eat, drink and party!
